WHAT'S NEW ON THE MARKET

Don't be shocked that this year's Uganda Film Festival took things a step ahead. With the way the film and TV industry is growing in Uganda, one can only dream of taking a bite out that big apple. Let's take a look at those who participated in growing this fruit tree of an industry.
On Friday night Kampala was dry, simply because the uninvited were hooked onto their screens as UBC and NBS televised the 10th Annual Uganda Film Festival Awards. Not forgetting that streaming it live was free on YouTube. All winners of the award and I mean all walked away with bombastic cash prizes. Some got nights Athena. One of them being the magnificent Mariam Ndagire who won the lifetime achievement award. If you've heard of Tendo Sisters and Ba-Aunt series, Kafa-Coh, my husband's wife and so many more, then you've got a glimpse of what Mariam Ndagire can do. On top of being a princess, she really looked like one in her incredible gomesi. Talk of aging like fine wine.

This industry is in for a boom. Have you watched JDC, oba olinda bakugaate ku ka Netflix. JDC aka Juniors Drama Club is a show that focuses on the lives of six primary school children and the drama in their parents' lives. And indeed, all this drama was well awarded as they received Best TV series of the year as well as their own Mama Darlington in the series, the blissful Diana Nabatanzi taking the Best Actress in a Tv Series award. What a night!

Being the biggest taxpayer in the country, it's not a shocker that the big cheques had Stanbic Bank the support they choose to give is immense and for sure, "It can be."
A performance by Irene Ntale was not one to be missed as she entertainment with famous hits such as "Gyobeera."
Awards were given to actors and producers of movies such as The Passenger and Mukisa. Big films and short movies are launched almost every week in this country, but the question really should be, "Where can one find these movies?" Before a movie or series legally hits the TV stations, there has to be some financial agreement between the producers of that project and the network. Some of these agreements take time so the best way to catch up on these amazing productions is to lookout for these cinema screenings because it's too much and it's too good. Next week we'll take a look at some of the creatives behind the scenes. Stay reading my beloved scrollers. ❤
